Categories: General

UPDATE 6/14: Thanks everybody for calling – the phone zap successfully pressured them to release the three from solitary confinement and into general population!

Need your support! Three people enduring solitary confinement in the Putnam County Jail of so-called Florida (Micccosukee, Seminole, Timucua, and Mascogo land)

BACKGROUND

Our transfem, Pasifika comrade Dandelion has been held in Putnam County Jail since April of 2023. She has requested support for herself and two others, Jamal Wright and Michael Hightower, who are all currently in solitary.

Both Dandelion and Jamal were supposed to return to general population almost three weeks ago. Neither have received notice that they remain on any administrative or medical hold, which is required to keep someone in solitary. We are calling to demand they be released back to gen pop.

Michael Hightower is being denied access to attending court, documents regarding his case, tablet access and communication with his public defender. We are calling to ensure the jail respects his rights and provides him with what he needs.

(thanks everybody, no need to call anymore as they were released from solitary)

“Hello, I’m calling today on behalf of three people, Jamal Wright 001765, Matthew Temael 000896 and Michael Hightower 001070, who are all being held in solitary. It has now been over two weeks that Jamal and Matthew were supposed to return to general population. I am requesting that the proper steps be taken for both of them to be released from solitary and back into general population as soon as possible.

I am also requesting that Michael Hightower be provided with all materials and documents regarding his case, access to a tablet, attendance at court dates and direct communication with his attorney. These are all rights he has which have been denied. Thank you.”
